Selamat Tahun Baru (Happy New Year) !
Happy New Year 2009 ! Bonne Année ! Prosit Neujahr ! And for me here in Bali, it’s Selamat Tahun Baru in Indonesian.
You could not go through any village or town here without seeing stands upon stands of colorful noisemakers and hats for New Year’s Eve. Long tubes with paper dragons or roosters on the ends, conical hats and other fun paper decorations. Men walk around carrying wooden sticks overflowing with them, hop on their bicycles still holding them and go up and down the streets – a true stand on wheels. Can you notice the bicycle wheel in the picture below left – you can hardly see the man and his bike underneath all of the colorful paper and strings.
Did you notice the boy hiding behind his mother in the above photo?

Amazing! I was so surprised to see all those typical New Year’s noisemakers and hats in Bali. Who’d a thought! And so much cooler than New York horns. Those trumpet like noisemakers, etc. So cool. As always, thanks so much for sharing your amazing experienes with us. And thanks for pointing out the cutest little boy hiding behind his mom. Definitely would have mssed him. And holy moly, how did that one bike carry so much stuff? Very cool indeed. Selamat tahun baru to you too. Happy New Year everyone!

Congratulations on your Weblog Award nomination! It is the breakfast hour on the East Coast of the good ole USA right now, and I am officially famished after viewing the pix of your banana macadamia chocolate chunk cookies. I’d give anything to trade my sub-par bowl of cheerios for a bowl of your granola, which looks and sounds just amazing! Prospero Ano to you and yours’!
